The Short Version

We do not collect, store, or transmit your code. All formatting runs 100% in your browser.

Information We Collect

PureFormatter does not collect any personal information, code, or content you paste into the formatters. All formatting logic executes entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your code never leaves your device.

We may collect anonymous, aggregate analytics data such as:

  • Page views and general traffic patterns (no user-level tracking)
  • Browser type and operating system (for compatibility improvements)
  • Country-level geographic data (for CDN optimization)

We do not collect IP addresses, user agents at a granular level, or any information that could identify individual users. All analytics data is processed in an aggregated and anonymized format that cannot be traced back to any specific individual or device, in full compliance with the anonymity requirements set forth by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other international privacy frameworks.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

PureFormatter uses a single, essential browser cookie to remember your dark/light theme preference (pf-theme). This preference is stored in localStorageon your device. No third-party cookies are used. No tracking cookies are set.

However, please be advised that we participate in advertising networks operated by third parties, including but not limited to Google AdSense, which may utilize cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to deliver relevant advertisements to you. These third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website or other websites. This practice is known as remarketing or behavioral advertising and is standard across the internet industry.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads.

If you are located within the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to be informed about the processing of your personal data, the right to access your personal data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure (the "right to be forgotten"), the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact section below.

Third-Party Services and Data Processing

PureFormatter may be hosted on a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that logs standard web server access logs for security and performance purposes. These logs do not contain your code or formatted output. Such logs typically include information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamps, and number of clicks. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.

We do integrate third-party advertising networks, specifically Google AdSense, which may collect and process personal data for the purpose of serving personalized advertisements. Google AdSense is a program run by Google that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, or interactive media advertisements, that are targeted to site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google and its partners.

Google's advertising requirements can be summarized in Google's Advertising Principles. They are put in place to provide a positive experience for users.https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/1316548?hl=en

We have implemented the following Google AdSense features:

We, along with third-party vendors such as Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to compile data regarding user interactions with ad impressions and other ad service functions as they relate to our website.

Users can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt Out page or by using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are a visitor from the European Economic Area, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the specific information concerned and the context in which we collect it.

We will normally collect personal information from you only where:

  • we have your consent to do so, or
  • we need the personal information to perform a contract with you, or
  • the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to collect personal information from you or may otherwise need the personal information to protect your vital interests or those of another person.

Where we rely on your consent to process personal information, you have the right to withdraw or decline your consent at any time. Please note that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

If you have any questions about or need further information concerning the legal basis on which we collect and use your personal information, please contact us using the contact details provided below.

International Data Transfers

Your information, including personal data that may be collected by third-party advertising partners such as Google, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside United States and choose to provide information to us or our partners, please note that we and our partners transfer the data, including personal data, to the United States and process it there.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer. We and our partners will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your personal data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information.

Data Retention

Because we do not collect your code or personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete from our servers. Your formatting history exists only in your browser's session memory and is discarded when you close the tab or navigate away from the page. We have no records of what code you formatted, when, or how often.

However, third-party advertising partners such as Google may retain data collected through cookies and similar technologies in accordance with their own data retention policies. For information about Google's data retention practices, please review Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 16 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 16. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers. This policy is in alignment with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations in other jurisdictions.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
